July 3, 2005 and September 22, 2006 are two of the best days of my life. The day I became one with my husband and the day our beautiful daughter was brought into the world. And even though my life is filled with so much love and happiness, my heart aches for more children. It literally aches!
Shortly before Ella's 2nd birthday, Aaron and I decided to throw out the birth control and start trying to conceive a brother or sister for Ella. Having conceived Ella in a couple short months and proven to be a "fertile" couple, we thought we'd have no problem the second time around. Little did we know!
It has now been 2-1/2 years and there is still no baby in sight. The first year was intimately timed intercourse. It started out fun and exciting, but by the end of the year, we became concerned. After we hit the 1-year anniversary, every imaginable test was performed on me, because all along we thought I was the problem. Just before we hit 2 years, we met with an infertility specialist who performed a semen analysis on Aaron (the first was done right by our family doctor, so not extensive at all), and it was discovered that Aaron's sperm had 99% abnormal morphology and below average motility. Our infertility specialist believes this is the cause for our secondary infertility.
After a failed IVF cycle in December 2010, we are now pursuing a FET (frozen embryo transfer) in March 2011 with the three embryos leftover from our first IVF cycle.
